We have a date!  July 23, 2023

We look forward to meeting you there!

Just what is the Pink Salmon Festival?

The Pink Salmon Festival Society takes over a hundred marginalized Capital Regional District youth fishing during each biennial pink salmon run.

Skippers volunteer to spend the day introducing kids to sport fishing at its finest! Sponsored by generous individuals, area businesses and organizations, this event is the dream of a group committed to sharing the fun of fishing with kids who do not normally have that opportunity.

Running since 2001, we are now planning our 11th Pink Salmon Festival. As well, our group intends to branch out into other experiences for disadvantaged youth.

Are you interested in volunteering as a skipper or for the picnic celebration that completes the day?  Contact us via our “drop us a line” tab.

Look for children’s registration opportunities at local recreation centres, schools and clubs in the spring of 2023.

Plans for the 2023 Event

The next Pink Salmon Festival will be scheduled for July 23, 2023. Find out about child registration through schools, summer programs, recreation centres and clubs. You can also send an email through our “drop us a line” tab.

On the day of the festival, volunteer skippers take over 100 marginalized youth fishing for Pink Salmon.

Vessels leave from Pedder Bay Marina, Jock’s Dock, Sooke Harbour Marina, and Cheanuh Marina for 3 hours of saltwater fishing and ocean exploring.

Afterwards, kids join their families on land for a barbeque at Pedder Bay Resort & Marina to celebrate the day and their catch!

Our society provides kids with fishing licenses, salmon stamps, and personal flotation devices (PFDs). Sponsors provide backpacks, t-shirts and trout gear so hopefully the youths will enjoy fishing on their own well after the event!

To ensure safety on the water, representatives of the Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary and Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada provide additional support during the event.
