Pink Salmon Festival Fund Raising Raffle
This year’s raffle prizes were first, a great fishing combo of an Okuma Outfitters edition 10’6″ salmon rod with an Islander MR-2 reel, and second, a Radio Flyer red wagon overflowing with toys and games.
The raffle draw was held at Island Outfitters on Fathers’ Day. The winner of the fishing combo was Brent Russell, and the winner of the Radio Flyer wagon-full of toys was Ann Tasko who right away delivered the wagon to her two grand children. Congratulations Brent and Ann!
Watch for our winter draw. Tickets will become available in February, 2019.
We are currently planning for next year’s event during July 28, 2019.
Just what is a Pink Salmon Festival?
The Pink Salmon Festival Society takes over a hundred Capital Regional District children fishing during each biennial pink salmon run.
Skippers volunteer to spend the day introducing kids to sport fishing at its finest! Sponsored by generous individuals, area businesses and organizations, this event is the dream of a group committed to sharing the fun of fishing with kids who do not normally have that opportunity.
Running since 2001, we are now planning our 10th Pink Salmon Festival. As well, our group intends to branch out into other experiences for disadvantaged youth.
Are you interested in volunteering as a skipper or for the picnic celebration that completes the day? Contact us via our “drop us a line” link.
Look for children’s registration opportunities at local recreation centres, schools and clubs in the spring of 2019.
